Pio never knew why they were calling him
a "runner." He
never had to rush. There were times when he had to wait and
wait, until someone would need something done. He noticed serious
naming problems everywhere. There is a waiter in a restaurant, and a patient
in the hospital, but to be honest, the patient waits, and the waiter has
to be patient. He thought the world would be much nicer if proper words
would be used. He’d seen his own title as “Useful” or "Everything." Sometimes
he thought he was asked to take a package somewhere just to make him feel
useful. So many times, he was helping someone in the house without even
going outside. And when he was asked to go out, it always rained. He tried
to remember to take his big black umbrella with him every time, but when
it failed, a newspaper was good enough for short distances. He thought, "What
will happen when the newspaper will become a piece of plastic that changes
the pages electronically – would it give me a shock? What will it
be called, although probably in a non-consistent way?" But the biggest
problem he had was with the suggestions given to him by the speller. His
texts were always filled with unusual words, so when he spell-checked it,
he frankly suffered.
