Kanata was responsible for everyday performance of a musical
group. Her job was to guide them all as a group toward its goals, see that
all members of the team were productive, and she tried to resolve problems
as they arose. This was the most difficult task, as all the members were
whimsical. She often called them “prima ballerinas”. She knew
she did not have the power to hire or fire employees or to promote them.
She could recommend such actions to the next level of management, or, theoretically
she had the authority to switch the roles of the members of the orchestra,
but it would be hard to imagine, wouldn’t it? Thus, her strategy
was to pamper them all, whether they liked it or not. Everybody was happy.
