The family secrets were out when she danced. Each and every
muscle was encoded with a message and a story. Every pitch change triggered
a reaction. Her movements sent an open message that could be interpreted
differently by each viewer. Waiaka developed her own system that could
be called an encyclopedia of signs, or better yet, of body signs, which
she knew better than anybody else. She loved dancing in the rain but it
was not allowed, because it would ruin the makeup she never wore.
