Her job was to control the giant
iron curtain that was supposed to go down only in case of fire. It was sitting
in a special slot, specially designed on the top of the building. It was making
the building very tall and windowless. She was the only one who new why, or
cared. She had to be present and alert whenever the theater was open, but it
was all the waiting time. She knew all the roles of any play by heart. Soon
she was promoted to a prompter’s position.
