Fundamental shapes

On city streets, a passerby may see a variety of square shapes in form of windows, doors, elevator shafts, and store display windows. Through the windows, one can see the shoppers in the stores, people in the apartments, along with their cats, flowerpots, and lamps with shades. The objects produce a pattern of functional shapes surrounded by their users. A city life can be seen as built up from shapes. Each shape has a function that determines its features.
