Presence
Photographs of apartments served as a starting point for this picture. By repeating and transforming the photos on the computer, then drawing and painting on the printout, I wanted to achieve a sense of the presence that one can feel but not necessarily see.
The regular rhythm of the city architecture is emphasized
. The effect of distortion of the city architecture reminds us of the regularity
of both the structure of each separate building and the relationship between
all of them, which make up a city. The computer helps in depicting the
rhythm, and the rhythmical sound of a big city.
The multiplicity of windows surrounding everybody returning home provides
one with a feeling of others beings present and of an assurance coming from
being a part of the big community.
