Conductor David is new here and does not know the names of his musicians yet. He feels embarrassed when he is uncertain about names of people he has already met. His kids, Paul and Jessica, asked media man Duncan to let them use an orchestra web site with the artists’ photographs. With all these pictures, they designed a pop up book on a computer. Now David can connect the names with the faces of the musicians.
David uses a special conducting technique. In accordance with a visual guide for an orchestra conductor created by Paul Grimes (trombone), he lines up all the instruments on one graph, so he can quickly see who should play when. This contributes to his success.
David likes stories. He believes
they are everywhere: be it a book, a web site, a comics a manga cartoon,
a movie or an animation, a theater play or a song, there is a story behind
it. Once he read about a container theory in which observed how the same
story can be packaged in different ways to crate a form. The writer needs
to tell a story to match the framework, timing, and technical requirements
of each medium. Every
night, he tries to come up with a new story he tells his children,
Paul and Jessica before bedtime. First he tells
it to Jessica with an emphasis on a movie setup, then he can be seen in Paul's
room converting the story into a theatrical production. After they both fell
asleep, he takes notes on their reactions and works further on his storytelling
technique.
