Francesco came from a famous pick-pocket
family. They were all skilled to the point that they were asked to lecture
on pickpocketing and pocketpicking. The lectures were lengthy, but no one
really understood the difference between these two subjects. All they knew
was that both methods worked if done well. The family was very careful
and patient with an issue of upbringing the youth. Since early childhood,
when the children started saying their first words, they begun their apprenticeship
in the family trade. They had to wear bells and practice emptying pockets
in any possible way, not triggering any of numerous bells attached to their
outfit. A complete silence and an empty pocket were the two keys to success.
Francesco was a fast learner and was heading toward a No. 1 Bread Winner
title. The only one family member with a higher score was his uncle. His
bells never rung. Though, it did happen for Francesco when he was working
on his uncle's pocket. He had two choices: to wait till his never-mistaken
uncle scores a point, or to leave. He researched the word “body bells” on
the Internet and as one of the outcomes he saw an ad for a performer for
an orchestra. He jumped on this opportunity. The bells he was wearing were
reflecting the lights in a way resembling the vocal spectrum. He never
went back to his inherited profession.
