Cyril has been working in solitary settings,
signaling. He’s job was filled with a mix of responsibility and free
time. He always felt under pressure. He’s musical compositions were influenced
by the daytime and the nighttime of the ocean seen, heard, and present from
above. He brought a telescope and a microscope, a violin, a guitar, some soap,
raisin (for the violin), stuff paper, a pen, a pencil, clothing, a hat, some
cosmetics, and a net. A helicopter dropped the food weekly. In his spare time
he composed music inspired by the ocean and he was writing on the same theme.
He used the space right below the lines filled with notes to write and to describe
his music. His creations were converted into songs consisting of music, lyrics
and the sound of the ocean. After years his beacon was transformed to a curved
deck, so boats, sailboats, small ships and smacks could stop for a snack or
a chat. He’d play and sing for them and soon he had to hire some waiters
and have the helicopter make daily drop-offs of food.
