Colt was hired as a helping hand. It meant helping with
practically everything. Colt’s schedule was posted on a website and everyone could
post a task for him, whenever there was a time slot available. Colt’s
phone alerted him of any new demand or need. He made a list of the most unusual
tasks for his novels. He’s been asked to remove a bat from a lecture
room, a pigeon from the theater workshop, as well as to present someone’s
composition on his phone connected to the speakers. He’s been growing
in every direction, learning new skills and mastering the old ones. Colt
felt he knew a lot, but still it was like they were trying to change him
into someone he was not. It was like forcing a spring to become a slinky,
he thought.
