Awareness
During hours spent in a slow life on the road, we
experience a unified isolation,
while we are compelled to group waiting
in the traffic that we are contagiously annoyed with,
both individually
and together. Interaction with strangers goes without noticing,
what happens
on the road depends on our own and the others’ decision.
Rear mirrors
reflect the stares of other drivers,
everyone doing something, calling,
talking, and rubbing their nose.
We keep watch for controls, a police car,
a dead cat on the road,
those who overtake us, those we leave behind,
some
turning left or signaling from the right side,
all unified in waiting for
one another.
